You could of choose to continue up along the grove, alongside the Roman Defensive Ditch and Bank system but you'd be with the traffic so taking a right here and going through the Industrial Estate avoids all the traffic and brings you up onto the road that takes you to Poundbury

Cosy Pub, food only so-so. You could if you wished veer off to the left after the pub and take instead the shared cycle/pedestrican route and continue all the way to Hangmans Cottage

The house(was built for John Damer by Francis Cartwright of Blandford in 1754; after Cartwright's death in 1758 the interior was completed by Vile and Cobb, cabinet makers of London, in 1762. The small country church of St Peter stands beside the manor mostly 14th and 15th century, with some Victorian remodelling. Winterbourne Came is one of several deserted villages that once flourished along the Winterbourne Valley. Its name comes from the abbey of Caen in France, which owned the estate in the medieval period. After the medieval period, the estate passed through several hands until it was purchased by the Damer family, Earls of Pontarlington in Ireland.
