There are no hills to climb, but there are plenty of lovely views across the heaths. The heather of is especially beautiful in August or September, and Ober Heath is great for spotting rare red deer.

Along the trail you will encounter the biggest trees in the New Forest – the giant, commonly known as the Wellingtonia coast redwood. The giant sequoia tree can grow to be the largest living thing on earth. You will also see many Douglas fir trees.

You'll notice the streams throughout the new forest appear orange, that's because the ground surrounding them are rich in iron.

Some great easy riding along the gravel trails, and if you go off trail and down some of the lesser known paths it can be hilarious fun. Be prepared to fall off..... a lot.

At Bolderford Bridge the tributaries of Ober Water and Highland Water join to become the Lymington River which flows into the Solent at Lymington. During the summer months, this section of riverine woodland is a popular destination for visitors to rest, whilst during the winter the woodland helps to slow the water flow through the village. Riverine woodlands are also important wildlife corridors and in the summer look for dragonflies and maybe glimpse a kingfisher which nests in the river banks.
