The Red Lion is a charming country pub in Chalton characterised by its thatched roof. It’s believed to be one of the oldest pubs in Hampshire, dating from at least the 16th century.

Love that they had a dog washing station at the visitor centre. Great end point so you can clean the dog before getting back in your car

With over 2,000 acres of open-access woodland and downland to explore, Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a great place to start. From here, you have access to Butser Hill, the highest point on the South Downs, the visitor centre with its shop and cafe, and plenty of parking.

The visitor centre has information and a café as well as parking and picnic benches. This is a great place to start a run up Butser Hill, through the woods or further on the South Downs Way. There is also a weekly Parkrun here.

The Queen Elizabeth Country Park Visitor Centre marks the gateway to the park, and is situated just off the A3 at the foot of Butser Hill. The centre has information about the park and there’s a cafe (Beechwood Kitchen) here too. There are also bike tools and a water tap outside. The park’s chargeable car park is situated just outside the visitor centre.

The Queen Elizabeth Country Park facilities are really handy for South Downs Way walkers. We arrived too early in the day for the café but the toilets were open and it was nice to have breakfast on the benches in the sheltered courtyard. There's a fresh water tap outside too.

I regularly ride the blue and red trails with my 9yr old on our hardtails. He's usually faster than me down the blue trail, but I beat him on the climbs!!!
