Nice rollercoaster leading up to the short and sharp final ascent. Narrow road with not great visibility. Watch out for traffic coming towards you. I kinda think itβs more fun going Farley to Somborne π

This is a stunning tree-lined road where the trees arch toward each other, forming a natural canopy overhead as you cycle through.

Longwood Dean Lane is a beautiful back country lane just east of Owslebury. It is a stunning tree lined lane with the glimpses of open country in places. Itβs a great connecting road to connect Belmore Lane and Lane End. Simply a beautiful stretch of road.

A challenge to find the hidden trig point! Top of Baybridge Lane, just past a bridleway on left, on the same side of road is a grass layby. The trig is deep in the hedgerow.

13 May 2021: The road of the Ashley Descent west-bound towards Kings Somborne, immediately below Farley Mount has just been gravelled!! :-o It is really thick, deep and loose! Komoot is today recommending to me Farley Mount as a suitable weekend road-biking route. Having ridden it yesterday, I suggest it is currently off-limits to road-bikes. For the next few weeks, at least, a gravel bike is the minimum.

Great country lane to Ampfield, watch out for traffic and under the railway bridge floods after heavy rains.

Farley Mount keeps a pretty steady gradient all the way up. I don't think it ever goes above 7.5%. The first part is the steepest then goes to a more gentle gradient for the second half. You can keep a good rythm all the way. to the top.
