History and significance: Year of construction: the chapel was built in 1946. The first stone was laid on May 15 and the chapel was solemnly consecrated on June 23, 1946. Reason: local residents of the Bootdijk erected the place of worship out of gratitude. The neighborhood was spared from severe disasters during World War II, and no one from the street perished. Moreover, the chapel served as a plea to protect the neighborhood from persistent flooding. Characteristics of the chapel. Architecture: it is a white-painted, rectangular brick roadside chapel, designed by the Hamse architect Leon Van Hove. Turret: on the slate roof stands a striking square bell tower with a wrought-iron cross. Interior: in addition to the statue of Saint Rita (patron saint of hopeless cases), the chapel also houses statues of Saint Martin and Saint Thรฉrรจse. There are four stained-glass windows.

N.V. Brouwerij Moortgat, founded by Leonard Moortgat in 1871 (see the facade stone with the date and the mention of J.L. Moortgat/M.H. De Block), initially as a mixed family business, a farm with an accompanying vinegar and beer brewery. Due to the growing success of the brewery, where the first "Duvel" was reportedly brewed in 1927, the facility was expanded and renovated several times. Today, the brewery buildings are relatively recent, the oldest of which date back to the second quarter of the 20th century. (Inventory of Immovable Heritage)

From junction 76, you cycle through Tielrodebroek, a pot-holed polder along the confluence of the Scheldt and Durme rivers. Then you arrive in Schouselbroek, one of the first polders along the Scheldt. This area has been transformed into a flood control area, where mudflats and salt marshes form valuable natural habitats thanks to the ebb and flow of the tides. (Waasland Tourism)
