Located in the municipality of Postalesio, before the bridge at the beginning of the village there is a sign indicating where you can get a permit to go up with your own vehicle, €5. Go up towards the pyramids and continue to the parking lot at 2000 meters, just below the Colina alpine hut, from there in 2 km on foot you reach the lake along the mule track which is quite steep in places. You can also go up from Triangia to the Poverzone cross and perhaps even further, inquire, by getting a permit at Ligari with the special machine, on both ascents it is better to have a car with high ground clearance.

However, the broader Val Valtellina region offers many scenic and flatter sections along rivers that might be more appropriate for families looking for easier, traffic-free cycling experiences. Always check individual route details for suitability.
Many trails in the Forcola region, especially those in natural areas like the Val di Mello Nature Reserve, are generally dog-friendly, provided dogs are kept on a leash and owners adhere to local regulations. Many of these routes start from towns and villages in the Val Chiavenna and Valtellina regions, such as Ardenno-Masino, Berbenno di Valtellina, Morbegno, and Mello. Cycling on traffic-free routes increases your chances of encountering local wildlife in their natural habitat. Keep an eye out for various bird species, marmots, and other Alpine fauna, especially during quieter times of the day.
While many of these routes venture into remote Alpine areas, some pass through or near small hamlets and mountain huts where you might find opportunities for refreshments. It's always recommended to carry sufficient water and snacks, especially on longer routes like the Ponte di Ganda – Ganda Bridge in Morbegno loop from Morbegno, as services can be sparse.
