June 22, 2026, Ebeltoft Church

Ebeltoft Church is first mentioned in 1458 and referred to as a chapel. However, during an archaeological investigation carried out in connection with the restoration in 1983, coins from the 13th century and foundation remains were found under the eastern part of the church, which show that it was built even before the town received its market town rights in 1301, there was a smaller church. Around the year 1500, the church was extended to the current nave with the addition of five vaults and the tower with crenellated gables. In the 16th century, the church had a women's door on the north and a men's door on the south. There was once a porch on the south side connected to the entrance. However, the porch was demolished at the end of the 18th century. In 2015, the church interior was restored, giving the church a different color scheme that makes the present-day church appear brighter, more harmonious and more striking. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/ebeltoft-kirche-gdk1078955

The Old Town Hall in Ebeltoft, dating from the 18th century, is an architectural gem and a historically interesting building. When visiting Ebeltoft, you shouldn't miss a look inside the wonderful old Town Hall in the middle of the old town of Ebeltoft. Here you can see the guardroom, the Molbostube, the Thingstube and the dungeon in the cellar. During a tour, the original furnishings give you the impression that time has stood still, so to speak. The Old Town Hall was built in 1789 and was in operation until 1840. From 1840 until its restoration in 1906-1909, it was used as a private residence. In addition, the town's guards and firefighters had a standby room in the building. The library of the Folkeforening also operated under the roof of the building for a time and was located in the old Thingstube. The Town Hall was designed by the well-known Danish architect Anders Kruse and built by the local master builder Just Møller. After the restoration in 1909, the Old Town Hall was taken over by the Ebeltoft Museum. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/das-alte-rathaus-in-ebeltoft-gdk1079039

June 22, 2026, Sculpture "Lodvig"

The sculpture „Lodvig“ is a worthwhile, humorous bronze figure in Ebeltoft. It is located directly in the historic old town on Adelgadetorvet in the pedestrian zone. The small statue shows a slender, almost bizarre-looking male figure with a bowler hat and walking stick, which often makes passers-by smile. Behind the figure lies a true "Amour fou" (mad love) from 1905, which became famous throughout Denmark. Lodvig was a young apprentice pharmacist in Ebeltoft at the beginning of the 20th century. He fell in love with Katrine, the maid of the strict town bailiff Selmer. When Lodvig one day secretly sneaked into her room, the two were caught by the town bailiff. The overzealous official had the couple arrested for "immoral behavior" and brought to trial. The trial ended with a four-day suspended prison sentence. The inhabitants of Ebeltoft found the punishment completely exaggerated and made the town bailiff a laughingstock. A mockery song and caricatures in national newspapers made the incident known throughout Denmark. You can perfectly visit the humorous figure during a walk through the cobblestone old town of Ebeltoft. https://www.dk-ferien.de/reisefuehrer/daenemark/mitte-ostsee/ebeltoft.html

Ebeltoft, located on the south coast of Djursland, is one of Denmark's most charming coastal towns. Known for its cobbled streets, quaint half-timbered houses, and maritime atmosphere, the town is a popular destination for history, art, and nature lovers alike. The historic town center is like something out of a fairy tale. Here you can explore the narrow alleys, visit small shops, artisans, and galleries, or enjoy a coffee in one of the cozy cafes. One of the most iconic landmarks is the Old Town Hall, dating back to 1576, which now serves as a museum and a popular venue for romantic weddings. The town's maritime charm is complemented by Ebeltoft Harbor, where you can admire both yachts and traditional wooden ships. In the summer, life pulsates in the harbor. Restaurants, ice cream stands, and music events create a lively and relaxed atmosphere. With its combination of historic charm, modern culture, and beautiful nature, Ebeltoft is a destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you are seeking tranquility, adventure, or inspiration, Ebeltoft will always surprise and delight you. https://grenaastrandcamping.dk/de/aktiviteter-udenfor/ebeltoft/

The construction was quite modern with, for example, a flanking tower – the first of its kind in Denmark – which forms a kind of side wing close to the main tower. Kalø Castle was imposing and virtually impregnable.
