Very cute little port. The Konoba Marinov Magazin is the best restaurant in town...it's also great that you can look out over the harbor from the first floor as if from a kind of balcony.

Nice view of impressive cliffs. A ride to the viewpoint is a bit steep and in the summer there is not much shade (few spots on the way) but worth the trouble. Bring a lot of water.

There are several family-friendly hiking trails in Kornati National Park. Our guide features 4 routes, with 2 rated as easy and 2 as moderate, offering a good selection for families.
The terrain in Kornati National Park is predominantly limestone karst, characterized by white rock formations, caves, grottos, and dolines. While paths are generally accessible, expect rocky surfaces and little shade, especially during warmer months. It's often described as a 'stone labyrinth' or 'lunar landscape'.
Yes, there are easy loop trails perfect for families. For instance, the Hiking loop from Grpašćak is an easy 4.9 km route, and the View of Telašćica Bay loop from Grbašćak is another easy option at 4.0 km, both offering scenic circular walks.
Kornati National Park is famous for its dramatic cliffs, known as 'crowns,' which plunge into the sea. You can find spectacular views from peaks like Metlina and Opat on Kornat Island. The View of Telašćica Bay loop from Grbašćak offers stunning vistas of the bay and surrounding islands.
While many trails are accessible, the rocky, karst terrain and lack of shade mean that most routes are not ideal for strollers. For very young children, consider shorter, easier walks and be prepared to carry them. Always bring plenty of water and sun protection.
The best time for family hiking is typically spring (April-May) and early autumn (September-October) when temperatures are milder. Summer can be very hot with intense sun and little shade, making it less comfortable for hiking, especially with children.
Given the sparse terrain and potential for strong sun, it's crucial to pack plenty of water, sun protection (hats, sunscreen), and sturdy walking shoes. Snacks, a first-aid kit, and swimwear for a refreshing dip at Lojena Beach on Levrnaka Island are also recommended.
Specific regulations regarding dogs in Kornati National Park can vary. It's always best to check the official park website or contact the park administration directly before your visit to confirm their current pet policy and any restricted areas.
Yes, the park offers glimpses into its rich history. You can find the 6th-century Byzantine Fortress of Tureta on Kornat Island, ancient ruins near Murter, and medieval salt storage on Lavsa Island. The dry stone walls built by islanders are also a fascinating cultural feature.
Access to Kornati National Park is primarily by boat, as it's an archipelago. If you're starting a hike from an island like Dugi Otok (e.g., for routes near Grpašćak or Sali), you would typically park your car in a designated area in towns like Sali or near the starting point of the trail, then proceed by foot.
Yes, Kornati National Park requires an entrance ticket for all visitors, which contributes to the park's preservation. These tickets can often be purchased online in advance or at designated points before entering the park area. It's advisable to check the official park website for current pricing and purchasing options.
Beyond hiking, families can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and diving in the crystal-clear waters, which are rich in marine life. Lojena Beach on Levrnaka Island is particularly popular for its sandy shores and turquoise waters. Boat tours are also a fantastic way to explore the numerous islands and hidden coves.
While the terrestrial landscape may seem sparse, the park is home to over 537 plant taxa, including nine orchid species. Marine life is abundant, with colorful fish, coral, and sponges visible in the clear waters. Keep an eye out for various bird species, especially near the cliffs.
