Comment elsewhere by Michael Schütz: In 2017, the Bilmer farmer and blacksmith Heinrich Kracke erected his wrought-iron artwork "Crucifixion of Christ" at Eisenwinkel. It consists of remnants of old, unusable agricultural machinery and depicts the horror of Christ's death. Kracke took his cue from the custom of wayside crosses, common in Catholic regions. There, crosses are erected in the landscape to make the Christian faith visible. The connection to the material iron arises from the fact that remnants of an Iron Age bloomery furnace and thus signs of pre-Christian settlement were recently found very nearby.

At the intersection of 'Unter den Linden' and 'Taubenholzweg' in Kolshorn stands an old transformer tower, no longer in use. The NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union) ensured it was repurposed: www.stadtmarketing-lehrte.de/sehenswuerdigkeiten/NABU%20-%20Tierhotel%20(Trafoturm) www.haz.de/lokales/umland/lehrte/kolshorn-hat-jetzt-ein-storchennest-AV56WAVEX3TIAYCA3NF3DTAS7M.html

In the heart of Kolshorn, on the village square at Bürgermeister-Fuge-Straße, stands a tower with a clock at its top. How the words 'clock' and 'tower' came to be swapped in the name of this landmark can be found here: www.stadtmarketing-lehrte.de/Sehensw%C3%BCrdigkeiten/75

The fire station with its hose tower, built in 1949, stands in the village square. Next to it is a bell tower with a clock, erected in 1998. The bell tower had been dismantled from the former schoolhouse, which is now privately owned. After restoration, the tower was placed in the village square.

It can be quite busy on weekends, as boat captains like to spend their rest time here. You can get up close and chat with the boatmen.
