"At approximately 40 kilometers, the Dhünn is the longest tributary of the Wupper. However, the Dhünn's water only accompanies the Wupper for a short distance, as it flows into the Wupper in Leverkusen. Shortly thereafter, the Wupper empties into the Rhine. The Dhünn is primarily known as the city river of Leverkusen and for its reservoir, the Große Dhünn Dam and its upstream reservoir. The two headstreams of the Dhünn converge in the Große Dhünn Dam before merging to form the main river. These headstreams are named the Große Dhünn and Kleine Dhünn according to their different lengths. Previously, many sections of the Dhünn were used for fish farming and hydroelectric power generation. However, as part of extensive renaturalization efforts, most of the old weirs have been removed.
