Bethlehem Church in Kiel-Friedrichsort is an interesting cultural monument with a rich history. It was built in 1875 as a garrison church for Prussian military personnel and is located at Möhrkestraße 9, 24159 Kiel. The name "Bethlehem Church" was only given to it in 1987, inspired by its consecration date of Christmas 1875. It is the only surviving wooden sacred building from the post-1870s period in Schleswig-Holstein and has been a listed building since 1988. Regular services of the Kompass parish are held in the church. Current events can be found on the parish website. The church is also used as a "cultural church" and hosts a variety of events, such as concerts, readings, and lectures.

Semra Ertan Square is tiny but significant: a triangular lawn (50 meters long) has been named in memory of the Turkish activist and poet Semra Ertan since 2023. It stands as a silent memorial to her writings against racism and outsider status—particularly her poem "My Name is Foreigner - Benim Adım Yabancı" and the posthumous Alfred Döblin Medal (2021) are part of her legacy.

Friedrichsort Cemetery is Kiel's oldest surviving cemetery (1632), originally established for members of the Navy and located directly adjacent to the former Friedrichsort Fortress. Until 1948, it served as the parish cemetery of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The late neoclassical chapel, built in 1901, had to be demolished in 1999 due to the danger of collapse. The park-like grounds are surrounded by an impressive cemetery wall. The gravestone of the Andresen family (1739) and the tombstone of the Matz family are impressive. Even today, the place resembles an enchanted garden and invites you to take peaceful strolls – a hidden piece of Kiel's history in the heart of Friedrichsort.

Former MaK factory in Kiel. Where outdoor enthusiasts rarely pass today, locomotives and ship engines were once built. Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK) shaped the port and the city for a long time. Between old brick buildings and remnants of track, you can still glimpse what once was a hive of machinery.

Bethlehem Church in Kiel-Friedrichsort is a timber-framed Evangelical Lutheran building built in 1875, originally serving as a garrison church. It is affectionately called the "wooden church" or "prayer shed" because of its simple exterior design. Also unusual is that the altar faces west, not east as usual. Today, the building is a listed building – it is the third oldest church in Kiel and is actively maintained as a cultural and worship center by the Bethlehem Church Interest Group.
