The 38 km long Teltowkanalweg connects the Griebnitzsee with the Dahme in the south of Berlin. The navigable canal, which was built in just six years, was intended to shorten the waterway between the Oder and the Elbe around 1900. With the construction of the Teltowkanal, many smaller streams disappeared at the time, as their beds were used for the canal's course. The path is designed continuously for hikers and mostly also for cyclists.

What Elfriede wrote is utter nonsense (despite being marked as useful 17 times). This bridge was necessary to allow the tow locomotive, which pulled the barges through the Teltow Canal, to cross the branch canal. The bridge sections were later converted into a pedestrian bridge. The Teltow Canal remained in use despite the division.

In 1838, the Potsdam Main Line (https://www.i2030.de/suedwest/) opened between Potsdam and Berlin as the first railway line in Prussia. Since the end of World War II, the line between Berlin-Düppel and Griebnitzsee has been interrupted due to the division of the Berlin Wall. In 1980, the remaining S-Bahn service between Berlin-Düppel and Berlin-Zehlendorf was also discontinued. This resulted in the Zehlendorf Süd S-Bahn station, which had only opened in 1972, being taken off the network. However, a decommissioning of the infrastructure under railway and administrative law has not yet taken place. Currently, the Potsdam Main Line is planned to be reactivated as a regional transport line. The former Zehlendorf Süd S-Bahn station will not be reactivated due to its close proximity, particularly to the neighboring Düppel/Kleinmachnow station.

The former crossing structure south of Zehlendorf station, built in 1911, will not be rebuilt. About 100 years ago, the so-called bankers' trains ran here from Wannsee along the tracks of the main line. These trains were a type of express S-Bahn, running from Zehlendorf on the long-distance tracks to Potsdam station with only a few stops. Reportedly, the trains were used primarily by bank employees.

As part of the i2030 project (https://www.i2030.de/), the S25 South S-Bahn line is being planned to extend from Teltow to Stahnsdorf. To improve access to the surrounding residential and commercial areas, a new intermediate station with two tracks is to be built on Iserstraße. Various options at different elevations are being investigated. Particularly challenging for the engineers is the consideration of the existing Biomalzspange and Iserstraße roads, as well as the comparatively high groundwater level.
