The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Boniface is a listed building in Großwelzheim, a district of Karlstein am Main in the Lower Franconian district of Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. The building dates from the 20th century. The parish belongs to the parish association "Church on the Way" (Karlstein am Main) in the Alzenau deanery of the Diocese of Würzburg. Description: The chapel, renovated in 1854, was enlarged between 1925 and 1929 by Dominikus Böhm. His guiding principle was Christocentric architecture based on the ideas of Johannes van Acken, meaning that the entire spatial effect of the elongated building is oriented towards the altar. He designed a massive, 23-meter-high church tower on the south side of the nave, a domed structure in the form of a transept, and a raised chancel. The paintings on the high altar and the Stations of the Cross were created by Alois Bergmann-Franken. The most important work of art is the image of Mary, based on the work of Matthias Grünewald, dating from after 1500. The organ was built in 1942 by Ignaz Weise.

Only the names remind us that brown coal was mined in Großwelzheim and Kahl 100 years ago. The "Kipp", as it is known locally, and the "Gustavsee" are the result of open-cast mining. The "home mountain" of the Großwelzheimers was created from deposited earth and gravel.
