There are very few graves on the church grounds. The properly laid-out cemetery is located 200m away.

A real gem what it is located south-west of Schwerin. The landscape protection area Siebendörfer Moor is a fen that has its origins in the Ice Age. It was created from the silting up of a ground moraine lake and can now be safely accessed on foot or by bike on asphalted and paved paths.

After the founding by the Schwerin cathedral chapter, the first church building was erected in 1217. In 1473 the largest of the three bells was placed in the wooden tower (our oldest piece is still in action today). The large neo-Gothic church was built between 1853 and 1855, the tower of which was destroyed twice by lightning, the last time the tower burned down in 1969. It was not until 1999 that the tower received its current octagonal pyramid top. The interior of the church was completely redesigned by 1979. By dividing the room, the choir with the church service room remained in the eastern part of the nave. A parish apartment was built in the western part. These rooms are used today for parish work, because the parish apartment has been located in the old rectory again since 2005. https://www.wittenfoerden.de/kirche/

The Siebendörfer Moor is wonderful to explore on your own bike. Most of the paths are paved and also quite wide. You can also go on a bike tour through the moor as a group. In spring, with a bit of luck, you can hear the bittern's courtship call (Botaurus stellaris). The dull courtship call sounds a bit like a cow, which is why this inconspicuous bird is also known as the “bog ox” or “moss cow”.
