The Hospital Church in Neustadt in Holstein dates back to a medieval foundation that originally served as a "hospital" – from the Latin hospitale = hostel, guesthouse, or pilgrim's house – and offered accommodation and care to the poor, the sick, and travelers. The name thus indicates its dual function as a religious site and social institution.

The Great Pönitzer Lake (often simply called "Pönitzer See") is a lake in the municipality of Scharbeutz – southeast of Pönitz – in the Ostholstein district of Schleswig-Holstein. The village of Pönitz am See lies directly on its northern shore, and the village of Klingberg on its southern shore. Then dare to tackle this approximately 30-kilometer-long route, which will take you around 6.5 hours. It starts in Scharbeutz and then continues along the sea to Sierksdorf, along a section of the Way of St. James and past picturesque lakes into Holstein Switzerland.

Haffkrug, probably the oldest seaside resort in the Bay of Lübeck, used to be a fishing village - and you can still see that today. Since the 1970s it has been a seaside health resort that has retained the pleasant calm of the fishermen. In the middle of a rural idyll, this Baltic Sea resort lies on a white powder sand beach and on the promenade you will find small stone sea creatures between thatched pavilions that remind you of the origins of the place.

It's also nice that cyclists are not directed into town along the main road, but via a railway crossing that is only for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Sierksdorf/Hof Altona airfield is picturesquely located on the Baltic Sea near the coast, surrounded by meadows and fields, and offers a 500 m grass runway, a small hangar and a bistro. The Baltic Sea is barely 900 m away
