The church stands on the Jakobshügel, probably the oldest settlement area in Weimar. As early as 1168, a pilgrimage church was consecrated at this site, as Weimar was a stop on the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela. The present building is a single-nave Baroque church, built in 1712/13 after the demolition of the dilapidated predecessor. The church tower is accessible. The former watchman's dwelling offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views over Weimar's old town.

The Schillerhaus appears to be very well preserved. It is obvious that great efforts are being made to give the impression that Friedrich Schiller still lives there.

The Shell Fountain in Weimar is located on the outer wall of the Weimarhallenpark. Beneath the centrally positioned shell, which gives the fountain its name, is a grotesque lion's head serving as a waterspout. Dolphins resembling dragons can be seen swimming down the sides. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muschelbrunnen_in_Weimar
