October 28, 2025, Kulhuse Camping

Located at the northernmost tip of Hornsherred, the DCU Kulhuse campsite offers a perfect blend of tranquility, nature, and maritime flair. Just a few steps away from the fine sandy beach. Nestled between tall pine trees and in proximity to the protected Nordskoven forest with its centuries-old oaks, the site is a lovely destination after hikes, runs, or bike rides. In addition to traditional pitches, modern LUX cabins with a kitchen, bathroom, and terrace are also available. For families, there are playgrounds, bouncy castles, a zip line, a soccer field, and a fire pit for cozy evenings. **Practical tip for active sports enthusiasts:** The site is ideal as a starting or finishing point for a combined tour: by bike or on foot through Nordskoven, then take the small ferry to Hundested in just 5 minutes to enjoy the harbor atmosphere, a café, and ice cream. Those who prefer to stay in the region can access the wooded trails directly from the campsite – perfect for trail runners and gravel bikers. October 28, 2025, Kirke Skoven Church

Kirke Skoven Church in Jægerspris was first built in 1897 by architect Martin Borch. After a fire in 1982, it was faithfully restored to its original style, incorporating Art Nouveau, Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque elements. The interior features artwork by Joakim Skovgård and decorations by local craftsmen added after the reconstruction. As a so-called "street church," it is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the summer, and only by appointment with the sexton in the winter. Further information and current service times can be found at: www.skovenkirke.dk.

Gerhøj is a small place on the Roskilde Fjord with about 700 inhabitants. The Kro was closed for years and was taken over by local people in 1997 and brought back to life. The gastronomy offers a kitchen with Danish and French influence. The small beach hotel has 10 rooms. King Chr. X visited the Kro once. Where he sat with his family is the "King's Corner" today, of course with portraits of the queen and king. The harbor is a cozy place where recreational fishermen still catch eels and fish in the fjord. You can also swim there and there are also some pitches for mobile campers.

From the burial mound there is a nice view on the eastern side over Kattinge Vig and on the western side over Lejre Vig.
