The Hanstholm Bunker Museum is a powerful and unique historical site that was once a massive German fortification from World War II. You can explore the vast underground bunkers and see the restored cannons and an old ammunition train. The sheer scale of the complex is a humbling sight and provides a stark contrast to the surrounding natural beauty. It's a truly unforgettable experience for anyone interested in history.

Hanstholm Lighthouse is one of Denmark's oldest lighthouses, built in 1843. Situated on a high cliff, the lighthouse is a key historical landmark and offers fantastic views of the North Sea. You can tour the grounds and learn about its powerful beam, and the nearby museum provides context on its role in World War II fortifications.

Be sure to stop by here. It's also worth a visit with your dog. You can walk all three outdoor circuits and visit many of the bunkers.

... THE PITCH, THE SANITARY FACILITIES 🚽 AND THE SURROUNDINGS (E.G. THE SPACIOUS AND SECLUDED NORTH SEA BEACH WITH MAGNIFICENT SUNSETS 🌅) WERE WHAT I WAS MOST IMPRESSED IN KLITMØLLER. THERE ARE TWO LADIES AT THE RECEPTION WHO SPEAK GERMAN (MY DANISH 🇩🇰 IS BAD AND MY ENGLISH 🏴 IS NOT PERFECT EVEN 😜). I COULD HAVE "LASTED" HERE FOR TWO WEEKS. 😎

I'd also like to add 📝 that after completing our North Jutland tour, I enjoyed Nystrup Camping 🏕️ in Klitmøller (€41/night) the best. 👍🏼 We also stayed at Poul Eeg Camping ⛺️ (€36/night) in Skagen and at Aalborg Family Camping Strandparken (€41/night ✨)...

THIS MUSEUM IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS IT VERY WELL EXPLAINS THE BACKGROUND OF THE CREATION OF THE BUNKER, WHICH CAN BE SEEN IN MANY PLACES ALONG THE DANISH COAST 👍🏼. IT IS AMAZING WITH WHAT EFFORT THE GERMANS 🇩🇪 HAD THESE FACILITIES BUILT, BUT ALSO HOW THE LOCALS 🇩🇰 EXPERIENCED PROPER ECONOMIC GROWTH AS A RESULT. CONSTRUCTION WORKERS CAME HERE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND EARNED 🪙 VERY WELL. THEY NEEDED ACCOMMODATION, SO FOR EXAMPLE BASEMENTS AND ATTICS 🏘️ WERE RENTED OUT TO THEM. A LOT OF MONEY ALSO CAME INTO CIRCULATION THROUGH THE SOLDIERS. FINALLY, EVERYONE ALSO NEEDED FOOD 🥘, DRINK AND OPPORTUNITIES TO SPEND THEIR FREE TIME 🍻.
