The Paleisbrug is a striking pedestrian bridge that connects the historic city center of ’s-Hertogenbosch with the Paleiskwartier. The bridge lies high above the railway and is more than just a connection: it is a green walking route with views over the city. The bridge was opened in 2015 and was designed as an elevated city park. Plants, trees, and seating areas are incorporated into the wide walkway, allowing you not only to walk from A to B but also to linger for a while. The combination of greenery, modern architecture, and the view over the surroundings makes the place particularly special. From the bridge, you look out over the historic city, the railway zone, and the surroundings of the old fortress. The sleek design of the bridge forms a beautiful contrast with the old city center with its narrow streets, canals, and monumental buildings. The Paleisbrug clearly shows how a modern intervention can become part of a historic city. A short walk across the bridge offers a surprisingly different perspective on ’s-Hertogenbosch: above the hustle and bustle, between city and green.

De Binnendieze is a very nice canal system through the city center of Den Bosch. On a tour boat, you sail under centuries-old buildings, past ramparts and nature, and experience the silence in the middle of the bustling city. It is a very nice experience in addition to the city walk in Den Bosch!

The Wilhelmina Bridge in 's-Hertogenbosch is much more than just a passage over the Dommel River. Since 1954, this distinctive bridge has stood as a proud gateway between the city center, Uilenburg, and Het Zand. But if you look closely, you'll discover that the bridge itself tells a story: the pillars are adorned with beautiful reliefs that capture the history of 's-Hertogenbosch in stone—from the city's founding in 1185 to its liberation in 1944. A veritable comic book in stone, passed by hundreds of people every day without noticing!

History of the 1931 Congress Center (Part 2, continued) After trading at the cattle market had been halted for several years, renovations to the historic building began in 2009. On February 3, 2010, a key phase of the construction project—the restoration of the monumental and striking tower—was completed. As a symbol of this special moment, the clockwork was restarted at the stroke of midnight for the first time in a long time. Shortly afterward, the 1931 Congress Center 's-Hertogenbosch opened. The renovation preserved the authentic character and creates an attractive conference and meeting center. Together with the adjacent Brabanthallen, they now form a large events and conference complex. Source: 1931 congresscenter brabanthallen.nl

History of the 1931 Congress Center (Part 1) Because the growing animal trade in public places, such as local squares, was causing increasing nuisance, Mayor F. van Lanschot opened the first fully covered livestock market complex in 1931: the 's-Hertogenbosch Cattle Market. The architect combined the style of the Amsterdam School of Expressionism with traditionalism. This design was built on a marshy plot of land just outside the center of 's-Hertogenbosch. The 's-Hertogenbosch Cattle Market opened every Wednesday morning at 5:30 a.m., but the building was often empty on the other days of the week. Therefore, agricultural events, such as the national Easter cattle and beef cattle inspections, were also held on these days. In 2001, the building was designated a national monument. That same year, the foot-and-mouth disease epidemic broke out in Europe. The measures that prevented the epidemic from spreading further were the reason for the closure of the Bossche Veemarkt.
