If you cycle from the Steenwijk-Beukers canal, you will have meadows on your right, while after the J.v.Nassauweg you will see new nature developing on your left. If you cycle straight on at the Kooiweg, you will see a large decoy on your left. In my youth they called it the largest duck decoy in Europe. Further on you will cycle along the Gieterse Meer. The only lake in Weerribben-Wieden that has developed naturally.

Beautiful surroundings. Of course lots of water, bridges and greenery. And the peace that emanates from this region is great.

The couple that run this mill are super helpful and knowledgable about the wind mill, they also run a lovely cafe right next door. She makes fantastic apple tarts. The smell of them cooking as you go into the cafe is quite a thing 😂
