A small park on the Kolk Canal near the Herenwalster Bridge. The park was created in 2009 and named Amelius van Oenema Park. Amelius van Oenema was mayor of Schoterland from 1627 to 1647. There are also lovely moorings for houseboats here; we spent a lovely night there.

The Crackstate is one of the most beautiful buildings in Heerenveen and was built in 1648 on the commission of the Grietman Johannes Crack. The building is constructed in the Baroque style and is somewhat reminiscent of Amsterdam, as it was designed by Willem De Keyser from the capital.

At the Herenwalster Bridge, you have a fantastic view of the canal and can admire the many houseboats. We also moored there for one night during our houseboat tour.

I live in Heerenveen myself, but I don't think it's a pleasant village at all. If you want to visit a pleasant city, go to Sneek, Leeuwarden, or one of the other eleven cities.
