The castle in Dobczyce is a picturesque fortress located on a rocky hill above Lake Dobczyce, with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Access by road bike is possible, although the last ascent is steep and it is better to overcome it carefully. It is worth combining a visit to the castle with a visit to the nearby open-air museum and a walk along the dam.

The open-air museum in Dobczyce is a small but interesting complex of wooden buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, located right next to the castle and the dam on the Raba River. They have the floor plan of an irregular pentagon and surrounded the entire hill of the old town. The wall stones were made of local sandstone. The height of the wall is on average 9 m and its thickness is about 2 m.

Please note the opening times: Open from May 1st to September 30th from 11am to 9pm. (As of May 2024) During these opening times you can walk over the dam wall with a very beautiful view of the lake. This reservoir serves to supply water to Krakow. Therefore, swimming or water sports are not allowed anywhere on this lake.
