October 28, 2025, Kruchowo Manor House

The manor house in Kruchów is an elegant 19th-century landed gentry residence nestled in a picturesque setting of fields and ancient trees. Built in the Classicist style, it captivates with its simple form and peaceful harmony with the landscape. For years, it was the center of social and economic life on the surrounding estates. Today, although somewhat forgotten, it still exudes an atmosphere of bygone times and aristocratic tranquility. A stroll around the manor house is a journey back in time – into the world of tradition and history of the Greater Poland countryside.

🪵 History and Foundation - The church was built between 1789 and 1792, funded by Petronela Mlicka, née Gałczyńska, with the support of Father Ignacy Gułkowski. - During World War II, it was converted into a warehouse for water equipment and then renovated in 1968. - A thorough restoration was carried out between 1997 and 2002, during which the polychrome by Professor Wiktor Gosieniecki from the 1920s was removed. 🏛️ Architecture - The church is built using a log construction, clapboarded, with a slight southward orientation. - It has a hall-like layout, with a three-sided enclosed chancel. - There are annexes on either side of the nave: the Chapel of St. Joseph to the south and the sacristy to the north. - A square tower of post-and-beam construction rises from the front, with a ground-floor porch, topped by a bulbous dome with a lantern. - The roofs are shingled, emphasizing the building's traditional character. 🎨 Interior and Furnishings - The interior is covered with a flat, faceted ceiling, with a choir loft supported by four columns. It houses a five-stop organ by Wilhelm Sauer from 1900. - A Rococo crucifix from the late 18th century is placed on the chancel beam. - The interior furnishings are Baroque, Rococo, and Classicist, and include: - The main altar and two side altars, - A fourth altar in the chapel with Baroque figures, - A pulpit, baptismal font, confessionals, - A folk crucifix by Józef Glanc in the sacristy. 🔔 Surroundings - Next to the church is a brick and wooden bell tower from the mid-19th century, with a shingled roof. - The entire complex is surrounded by a wooden fence, and nearby stands a rectory from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

June 28, 2025, Water Tower

The water tower is a utility structure built on a hill overlooking the city, hence visible from afar. Designed in 1905, it is 41 meters high. The red brick structure of the tower is a building, under the top of which a 150 m³ water tank was installed, supplying the municipal water supply network. It was put into operation in 1906. The first renovation and modernization works were carried out a decade later. Since then, it has fulfilled its utility tasks without a hitch for decades. Renovation works, which gave the water tower its current splendor, were carried out in 1993-1994. The tower part was reconstructed and the lantern with the spire was recreated. (trzemeszno.pl)

The court is inaccessible from the inside. On the tympanum there is a Latin sentence: he who watches does not sleep.

Access from the outside. The manor house is inhabited. The library that was located inside is currently being demolished. Very friendly local people and residents, with whom you can talk :)

The monument to Leszek Biały in Marcinków Górny commemorates the tragically deceased prince, who was murdered in 1227 during a meeting of Piast princes in nearby Gąsawa. It is located in a symbolic place, where according to legend, he was struck by the assassins. The monument depicts Leszek Biały on a horse in a dynamic pose, which emphasizes the drama of the events. It is an important place for lovers of Polish history, and there are other attractions related to the history of the Piast dynasty in the area. For cyclists, it is an interesting point on the route to visit Pałuki, combining history with the beauty of the landscape.

A monument erected in memory of one of the most famous Piasts: Leszek the White. Known mainly - unfortunately? - for being murdered during the princes' meeting in Gąsawa (1227), and also while escaping from the baths! This monument was originally erected in 1927 - on the site that is believed to be the place where Leszek the White died. The monument was destroyed during the war, but was reconstructed in 1973.
