The new Sint-Lambertus church was put into use on Saturday 15 November 1952 and consecrated by Bishop Lemmens on Sunday 28 June 1953. Perhaps the most striking part was the atrium: an enclosed transitional space between the hustle and bustle of the street and the sacred silence of the church, the only one of its kind in the Netherlands.
