This is the starting point for the magnificent trail across the South Downs! I hiked it myself and still fondly remember it after many years!

This was our final stage of the South Downs Way (Bo Peep to Eastbourne) and the second of a two day hike. The Seven Sisters followed by Beachy Head is pretty brutal.

Opened as a public park in 1935 The Helen Garden has broad lawns that slope gently seawards giving magnificent views towards Eastbourne pier. It's home to an 18-hole putting course, pétanque court and bowls green, all with beautiful sea views.

A great wood that has passable track ways in summer and spring, though if there has been rain it will be muddy, a gravel or mountain bike is preferable
