Am Stein 8, also known as the New Post Office, is a listed building in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt. It is a Baroque-style, three-story group building on a corner site with a flat bay window, curved gables, and a tower-like ridge turret with a cap. After the Ingolstadt telephone system opened on October 1, 1897, the Royal Post Office Ministry realized that the post office would have to relocate due to lack of space. Construction began in 1907 at the corner of Milchstraße and Am Stein. The tower testifies to the builders' desire for representation, but also had a practical purpose: From the platform, cables to the city's individual telephone connections stretched in all four directions. Today, the tower is empty. [Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am_Stein_8_(Ingolstadt) ]

Caution is indeed advised when coming from Irgertsheim, but the climb on the Pettenhofen side is not particularly steep. The route is pleasant to ride, with little motorized traffic for the most part.
