History This medieval residence is located in the historic center, not far from the Münster and the Obermarkt. Zum Hohen Hafen is one of the remarkable historic houses on the Obermarkt, one of the oldest squares in the old town of Konstanz. L’Obermarkt ("upper market") was an important commercial and civic center from the Middle Ages onwards: * markets, * fairs, * public ceremonies, * gatherings related to the Council of Constance. The house "Zum Hohen Hafen" The name means approximately "At the High Port". Like many medieval dwellings in Konstanz, it probably belonged to rich merchants or traders linked to lake trade. Schonach artist Klaus Ringwald designed and built the Münsterbrunnen fountain on Villingen's Münsterplatz in 1989. This bronze work of art tells the city's 1,000-year history through text and images, sometimes humorously. Each of the artwork's eight sides is dedicated to a significant era for the city. Gerberau is always worth a visit. There's an ice cream parlor and the Gaf Gaf (a shop with lovely gift ideas), jewelry, and antique shops. The beer garden is a great place to linger.

The west-to-east-oriented street next to the Gewerbekanal, bordered at one end by the southern Kaiser-Joseph-Straße and at the other end by Gerberau and Adelhauser Straße, is only about 140 meters long. The Konstanz Minster, officially the Minster of Our Lady, is a historic church on Lake Constance. It was first mentioned in documents in 780 and was the cathedral of the diocese of Konstanz for over twelve centuries. The current building, a Romanesque basilica from 1089, was supplemented over time with Gothic elements, including the striking west tower and the neo-Gothic spire. The Mauritius Rotunda with its artistic early Gothic Holy Sepulchre structure is particularly well-known. Since the diocese was abolished in 1821, the Minster has served as a parish church and to this day shapes the image of the beautiful old town of Konstanz.

The bridge fragment made of red granite is reminiscent of the stone bridge that still lies in the ground beneath the street today. In 1830, the right arm of the Rhine that ran at this point was filled in, which permanently changed the cityscape.
