The red spring is so special because a water rich in iron springs forth here and deposits on the edges. This is why the stream still shimmers reddish a few meters behind the spring.

The forest educational trail has gotten a bit dated. Now and then, there's only an information board, but no corresponding tree anymore. Nevertheless, the educational trail is interesting in that the most diverse trees stand close together.

The local angling club has really put in a lot of effort here. Not only is the shelter available to everyone and offers very good weather protection (glass windows and benches and tables inside), but the fishing ponds are also accessible to everyone (which is even explicitly desired, as the trail marker leads directly onto the grounds). This way, you can also take the fish educational trail, which explains all native fish and their habitats with short information boards. Very interesting and a super well-maintained area. Naturally, fish are also very well represented in the ponds.

A popular refuge for waterfowl of all kinds. Since the area is also quite wooded, it's not possible to see deep into the reserve basin from every corner. Depending on the wildlife activity, the path along the dike can be quite lengthy.

This megalithic tomb, Rickelmann I, dates back to the Neolithic period, approximately 3500–2800 BC. It is still relatively well preserved. Ceramic remains were also found at this grave. This burial site is part of the Giersfeld Stone Grave Trail. A plaque provides information about it.
