The village of Krukow was first documented in the Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230 as Crukowe. It was founded by Slavic settlers in the 11th century. The place name goes back to Old Polabian *Krukov and is a combination of Old Polabian *kruk "raven, crow" and the possessive suffix -ov, meaning "settlement near the crows." Today, Krukow is a small village located almost in the middle of Lauenburg, Schwarzenbek, and Geesthacht, and therefore enjoys a good location despite its small size. "Amidst green forests, surrounded by meadows and fields, there lies a village so beautiful..." – this is the beginning of the waltz written especially for Krukow, and there is some truth in these lines: The community is surrounded by forest on three sides and has thus been able to preserve its natural character. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krukow_(Lauenburg) https://krukow.de/historie/ Many thanks to Anke Kromke, who captured the history of her hometown Krukow in words and pictures.

The Kabbe company is a long-established agricultural machinery specialist in Krukow, District of Herzogtum Lauenburg. In 1952, Bruno Kabbe, who fled Pomerania after the end of the war, founded a blacksmith's business in Krukow. After a few years, when farmers increasingly used machines to cultivate their fields, the master blacksmith and agricultural machinery mechanic expanded the business into an agricultural machinery repair shop. In 1991, son-in-law and master locksmith Joachim Schulze took over as owner and Bruno Kabbe's daughter Angelika continued the business. The customer base grew steadily and so Kabbe Landmaschinen was expanded with new offices and hall space in April 2009 with an inauguration ceremony. At the beginning of 2010, Bruno Kabbe's grandson Nils Schulze (son of Joachim and Angelika Schulze) joined the family-run company as a master agricultural machinery mechanic. He will take over and manage the business in the near future. The Kabbe company is a training company and employs qualified, regularly trained specialists in the workshop area. http://www.kabbe-landmaschinen.de/
