It is easily accessible in the village area and is ideal as a short break on a bike or hiking tour, for example combined with paths towards Mölln or along quiet side streets. The surroundings are rather flat and relaxed to cycle or walk, so you can easily incorporate it into a tour without major detours.

I like the inscription on the stone and the coat of arms.

As I drove past I thought it was labelled, but it isn't. But it still fits in well here and is a lovely photo opportunity with a panoramic view of the landscape.

The club's members fly a wide range of models. Gliders, petrol planes, drones, helicopters and jets with both turbine and electric propulsion can be found regularly at our airfield. Pretty much anything that's fun flies here. The airfield is located between Bälau and Mannhagen, about 5 km west of Mölln and is very large with an area of 2.5 hectares. Models up to 25 kg take-off weight are permitted. Guest pilots should contact the local flight director or make an appointment using the contact form, provided that they have model liability insurance and proof of knowledge. When the weather is good, the site is always well attended...so just come along. You can find more information here: https://www.lsv-ratzeburg.de/flugplatz

The village was first mentioned as a parish in the Ratzeburg cathedral chapter directory in 1194. Breitenfelde was on the historic Old Salt Road from Lüneburg to Lübeck. In the 15th century, half of it belonged to the city of Lübeck and half to the Marienwohlde monastery. The Breitenfelde office was created in 1889 on the orders of the Prussian Minister of the Interior after Prussia took possession of the Duchy of Lauenburg. This memorial stone commemorates the 800th anniversary in 1994. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breitenfelde
