Neuenkirchen village church Neuenkirchen church The somewhat hidden fieldstone church, with a half-timbered nave and bell tower, is, like the whole village of Neuenkirchen, an insider tip for many holidaymakers and has become known to a wider audience through the film "Hands off Mississippi". Lake Neuenkirchen, the proximity to Lake Schaalsee and the many small hills invite you to take a walk. The church with its adjoining cemetery rests on a hill in front of the lake and was mentioned in sources as early as 1194. When you enter the church, you look at a modern stained glass window entitled "The Good News" that invites interpretation. The oldest part of the church is the choir with two simple vaults and window arches in the transition from Romanesque to Gothic style. A special eye-catcher is the mostly closed altar shrine with figures from the pre-Reformation period. The church is used especially in the summer months for summer church as well as for the high feasts of the year. In 2023, work will be carried out to renovate the interior of the nave. The measures are supported by the Mecklenburg church district, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Strategy Fund), the German Foundation for Monument Protection, the Marlies Kressner Foundation and the Village Churches in Need M-V e.V. association. Notes: The church can be visited. You can get a key after registering at the Döbbersen parish office or on site at the inn or from Ms. Lenzner opposite the church. The Badow manor house, also known locally as the castle, is located in the Badow district of the Schildetal community in the Northwest Mecklenburg district. The estate was first mentioned in documents in 1230. In 1906, after a serious fire, the manor house was converted from a classicist to a neo-baroque house by the architect Paul Korff. The entire riverside path is very beautiful: always right on the water and under trees

Here you can walk very nicely directly along the lake. The parallel path above is also highly recommended.
