Structures The dam of the Innerste Dam is an earth dam with a multi-layered, external asphalt concrete seal. It has an inspection passage in the water-side hearth wall along its entire length. In front of the water-side foot of the dam there is a flood overflow tower, into which the bottom outlet is also integrated. The water from the Innerste Dam can be pumped via a 4.6 km long pressure pipe to the Grane Dam to the east, where it can be used to treat drinking water. From 2003 to 2005 the dam was completely drained and the asphalt seal and bottom outlet in particular were renovated; the construction work was completed in September 2005.
