The Schmiede (forge) was originally a classic village forge and locksmith's shop, as existed in almost every Pomeranian village until the 20th century. Horseshoes, wagon fittings, agricultural equipment and simple metalwork were manufactured and repaired here. After the Second World War (approx. 1952–1958), it was temporarily used by Wilhelm Regett as a car repair shop – a sign of the change from a pure farrier and wheelwright to car repair in the GDR era. Today, the Alte Schmiede (old forge) has been restored and serves as a museum. It shows exhibitions on the history of the village blacksmith's trade, old tools, anvils, bellows and typical products of such a business.

The castle park is surrounded by a high wall and is off-limits. It's a bit disappointing that you can only see the castle from one side.

First mentioned as a castle at the end of the 12th century, Penkun Castle is today one of the last remaining castles of the Pomeranian Dukes. The castle association runs a border and customs museum in the former administrator's house, and there is a small exhibition on the judicial system in Pomerania in the castle cellar.
