Tips from the Community

Uwe Drescher
February 26, 2026, Church in Dürrhennersdorf

The church is a plastered rubble stone building with a polygonal chancel, of architectural and local historical significance. A simple neo-Romanesque hall church, built in 1874/75 according to plans by master mason Peschel from Niedercunnersdorf; the tower was erected according to plans by fire insurance inspector Leuthold from Bautzen; it was restored between 1981 and 1993. The house itself is also worth seeing with its half-timbered style.

great cycle path on a former railway line

Because Oppach has set different priorities regarding landscape and trail design, the cycle path breaks off along the former railway line at the Buschmühle in Beiersdorf, on the border with Oppach. We recommend keeping left toward the Jägerhaus. Still in the forest, at the clearing, turn right toward Oppach Jägerhaus, or left toward Beiersdorf Tannenhof (visible after 200 meters on the left behind the meadows), or right again toward Neusalza-Spremberg. There you'll meet the Spree Cycle Path.
