Hikers will find the entrance to the Neuglück mine tunnel on a hiking trail near Willwigart am Sammetbach. The pit goes 45 meters into the mountain. There were three tunnels, but the top and bottom are in ruins. The entrance is closed with a grille. In the 1930s, when the Hitler regime tried to exhaust domestic ore reserves in preparation for its wars, copper ore was mined for a few years in the Neuglück mine on Sammetbach. In 1939 the mine was closed again. It is not known whether it was because the ore yield was not very productive or because the men could no longer work there because of the war. According to the mining authority in Koblenz, the last owner was the Neuglück trade union in Hasborn. Source: Excerpt from Trierischer Volksfreund

The church is a two-axle hall building, built in 1832. It is in the village street of Willwerscheid and is the property of the community. The chapel is dedicated to the patron saint against storms, lightning, hail and conflagration, St. Donatus ”. A colorful church window and a statue depict the saint with a palm tree and lightning bolt or a shield. Donatus (from Münstereifel), born around 140 AD in Rome; died before 180 AD, was a Roman military leader and is venerated as a martyr. June 30th is the day of remembrance and worship. The patronage festival (fair) is celebrated on the 1st weekend in August. The church door is always open to every visitor. Source: local community Willwigart
