The Lech plain is quite wide, about 20km from the western forests to the Lechhöhenweg. I've been mountain biking from Kaufering to Schwabmühlhausen for over two years. Before Hurlach, as soon as you leave the edge of the forest, you'll encounter the first bump, and after Hurlach > Schwabmühlhausen, at the latest, there's no slipstream. Some days on the smallest chainring, you feel like you'll never get anywhere.
