Very natural area. The flora could also expand, providing food and shelter for the birds.

As one of the most important Catholic and Orthodox Marian pilgrimage sites in the region, the pilgrimage to Schönenberg has a long tradition. The pilgrimage church, built between 1682 and 1687 according to plans by the Vorarlberg architect Michael Thumb, burned down completely in 1709 after a lightning strike and was rebuilt under the direction of Maximilian von Welsch. It was consecrated again in 1729. To the east of the church are stone figures of Saint John Nepomuk (1732) and the Mother of God (1733), both by Melchior Paulus.

The reason for the church's construction was pilgrims who placed an image of Mary in an oak tree behind the present-day chapel. A powerful spring bubbled forth at the foot of this oak. The water of this spring was said to have healing properties for eye ailments. As a result, pilgrimages to the "Madonna in the Oak" soon became established, even before the chapel was built. The oak, approximately 400-500 years old, was felled in 1958. Source: https://www.schwaebischealb.de/attraktionen/eichkapelle-rindelbach#/article/36c56bd7-8c90-499f-9090-d7b34c529c07
