The present-day St. Martinus Church has been the heart of Iggingen for over 150 years and stands on a historically significant site. Several predecessor churches have stood on this spot, culminating in the original church dating back well over 1,000 years. In 1638, during the Thirty Years' War, imperial troops plundered Iggingen, burning down the church and almost the entire village. Most of the tower, with its thick walls, must have survived the fire relatively unscathed, as St. Martinus Church still retained its medieval tower until 1856. In 1859, the old church was demolished, and the current St. Martinus Church was built. Source: https://www.iggingen.de/freizeit-kultur/sehenswertes/st-martinus-kirche
