The newly asphalted and partly prepared with fine gravel cycle path 🚵🏽♀️ between Dombühl via Diebach to Rothenburg ob der Tauber 🏰 lies on the old railway connection 🚂 from Dombühl to Rothenburg. The tracks 🛤️ are no longer there, but the old, restored station building of Bockenfeld still exists. In other places too, it is still recognizable that you are traveling on the former railway lines.

In spring, very beautiful view of the castle, when the trees do not yet have leaves

There are many places from which you have a great view of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, but I find the view of the medieval town, with its unique silhouette and towers, most beautiful from the Tauber Valley or from Engelsburg Castle.

To ensure that our lake, which went into operation in 1980, can continue to reliably fulfill its function as a flood retention basin, it was inspected and renovated by the Ansbach Water Management Office in 2024/2025, and sediment was removed in a joint effort. The flood retention basin is scheduled to be put back into operation in mid-November 2025, so that the target water level should be reached again at the beginning of the 2026 bathing season.

During my visit, it had little water or was partially drained. In any case, a very quiet location with a beautiful trail on the western edge.
