Whether by bike or on foot, young or old, the Floßgraben is easy to navigate and offers many highlights along the way. A very entertaining tour that's definitely worth it. The Floßgraben was built between 1556 and 1559 as the Schneeberger Graben (Schneeberg Ditch) to supply the Schneeberg-Neustädtel mining district with timber and firewood. From the Rechenhaus (record house) near Bockau to Bad Schlema, it is 15.3 km long and has a drop of 70 meters. The natural terrain was utilized during its construction, with a wooden channel built in only one place. This technical monument is considered a testament to the highly developed engineering skills of the 16th century. (https://www.kurort-schlema.de/kultur/bergbau-erleben/flossgraben)
