Located between the villages of Dünstekoven and Buschhoven, this area was once used for gravel extraction. The gravel pit has since been closed. The area, which is not open to the public (!), has since become an ecologically valuable nature reserve. It is managed by the NABU Bonn district group. Once a year, there is an exceptional opportunity to enter the area and receive informative guided tours. Outside of these events, entry is prohibited!

Rest area in the heart of Metternich - lovingly designed and decorated for Christmas 🎄 There are many benches and two tables. So it is also ideal as a rest area for larger hiking groups 🥾

Near the Wasserburg in Metternich, you can find this wonderful fountain. It is truly worth seeing. Unfortunately, the quality of the highlights has significantly deteriorated after the takeover by the new operators. The interests of the different groups (cyclists, hikers, etc.) are simply too different. What a shame!!
