About 400 years ago, things looked very different here. The Rhine didn't run in front of Lobith and Tolkamer, but behind what is now Lobith. If you then walked through the Schipperspoortje, you would enter Lobith Harbor, where dozens of sailing ships were waiting. The skippers came to pay at the Pout, do some shopping, and have a beer.
