Mühlenburg Castle is a former moated castle whose moat has since been filled in. It was first mentioned in 1468 as being owned by the Ledebur family, who had many possessions in the surrounding area. It remained in their possession for 400 years, after which it changed hands several times.

The Katzenholz once belonged to the nearby Mühlenburg. Therefore, the family burial site of the former owners with the imposing family coat of arms can be found not far from it in the middle of the forest.
