I'm more familiar with the main road. If you deviate from the designated direction, there's a dangerous curve. (Experienced cyclist) It's not worth the risk.

Pure lake idyll! In the area around Mattsee you will also find a number of rock boulders from the Tauern that were transported here by glacial streams.

This is an exciting museum dedicated to the life and legacy of Franz Winkelmeier, the greatest European who ever lived. 😊 The giant museum opened in April 2014 and is located at Lengauer Hauptstraße 22. The museum shows you different aspects of Franz Winkelmeier's biography, such as his childhood, his extraordinary growth, his travels and his early death. You can watch a short film and an audio station that will tell you more about its history. You can also admire many original objects from his personal possessions, such as his sofa, suitcase, size 59 shoes and other paraphernalia. You can also see a life-size doll in his original clothes and compare yourself to him. The museum also wants to give you a message of tolerance and respect for being different. The giant museum is open every Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is €3 for adults and €1.50 for children. Groups are requested to register in advance by telephone on +43 (0) 664/59 78 310. If you want to learn more about the museum, you can check out the website of the Association of Friends of the Lengau Giant. There you will also find further information about Franz Winkelmeier and his memorials in the area, such as his grave of honor, his theme trail and his hiking trail.
