A church built around 1130, a chapel was added to the south side around 1230 and expanded around 1400. The early Gothic choir was built around the middle of the 13th century and the distinctive west tower was expanded in the first half of the 15th century. After the church was damaged during the Second Turkish Siege of Vienna, the nave was raised and vaulted as part of the repairs. The sacristy is in the Baroque style and was added to the north side in the middle of the 18th century. The church was badly damaged during World War II and rebuilt in 1951/52.
