Sandsteinklippe

The Protestant town church of Wiesloch looks older from the outside than it does from the inside. It dates back to the 11th century – the tower, in particular, is almost completely preserved from that time. In 1077, King Henry IV imprisoned and burned about 100 followers of his adversary, King Rudolf of Rheinfelden, in the church, which also severely damaged the building. It received its present form in 1773. The portal of the Lords of Sickingen, dating from the early 15th century, on the south side of the church is also worth seeing.

A pleasant path leads along the side of the large Jewish cemetery in Wiesloch. Only at the memorial with the Star of David can one catch a glimpse over the wall of the ancient gravestones.

A special place. Cemeteries radiate peace and tranquility to me; it is not grief that such a place should carry, but rather memories.
