The Witch Stone was created in 1949. Founder and "Witch Father" Karl Vollmer designed the figure of the Offenburg witch, which was then carved into the rock by master plumber Karl Fritz. The hiking trail "TO THE WITCH STONE" begins at the Hexekuchi (Witch's Kitchen) in Offenburg's city center, behind the Salzhaus (Salt House), and leads through Offenburg's eastern district via Zell-Weierbach to this point. Many thanks to the Schneider and Füller families, who, as landowners, make the upkeep and preservation of the Witch Stone possible.

Absalom's Tomb is actually not a real burial site, but a pile of stones. In the past, agriculture was practiced in this area, and the arable land was often interspersed with stones. These stones were collected during plowing and piled up. Many such stone piles can still be found in the Black Forest today. A well-known pile of stones eventually received the name Absalom's Tomb. This was probably because it stood out from other piles due to its size and was perceived as a prominent point by tourists and hikers. The designation is an allusion to Absalom's tomb in the Kidron Valley near Jerusalem.
