November 22, 2025, Pinzigberg Chapel

The pilgrimage chapel "Maria Hilf" (Mary Help of Christians) on the 543-meter-high Pinzigberg was built in 1708. During the War of the Spanish Succession in 1703, a farmer, fearing for his life, hid in a bakehouse. In his distress, he vowed to build a chapel to the Virgin Mary on the mountain, which he could see through a small opening, if he survived. He did build the chapel, but it was demolished during the secularization of church property. The year 1817 brought a poor harvest, and a great famine broke out. At this time, Greger, a district court assessor from Eschenbach, advocated for the construction of a new chapel. It was consecrated in 1818 and became very popular with the local population. At the center of the shrine is a copy of the Amberg Maria Hilf image. In gratitude for Auerbach's sparing during World War II, a Stations of the Cross leading to the Pinzigberg was erected. The pilgrimage flourished. The feast day of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated with particular solemnity. Fatima celebrations take place on the thirteenth of each month.
