Sayn Castle originated as a medieval fortified manor and is closely linked to the eventful history of the Counts and Princes of Sayn and Sayn-Wittgenstein. In the 19th century, it was remodeled in the Neo-Gothic style by Prince Ludwig Adolph Friedrich and his wife Leonilla. After suffering severe war damage in the 20th century, it was rebuilt and is now owned by Alexander, Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. Today, the castle welcomes visitors with exhibitions on the family history, princely salons, a restaurant, and the adjacent castle park with its butterfly garden. Along the shady Brexbach stream, there are beautiful paths, bridges from an old railway line, and two accessible caves in the hillside. Don't forget your flashlight!

The bridge rises majestically out of the forest. It looks impressive! Behind it, the path goes up the Brexbach valley. A wonderful walk with many possibilities.

The roots stabilize the path and often form a kind of steps. Great to walk and beautiful. One of my favorite routes in the region. The paths are not too narrow and there are several ways to incorporate them into different routes. You should have a strong circulatory system, though.
