The circular route is very varied. Sometimes a well-maintained flat path, sometimes over roots or over hill and dale. It never gets boring. There are always wonderful views of the other bank and each one is very beautiful in its own way.

Super beautiful gorge, we walked this with a 3-year-old child and a medium-sized dog. Children should walk holding hands if they have good surefootedness, alternatively in a carrier. I would not walk the gorge again with a dog. Partially very steep wooden stairs. Our dog almost fell backwards off the steps. I would have wished for better signage from the operator. It was partially dangerous for the dog and then also for humans. Our dog has a lot of trust in us, so carrying was not a problem, but under certain circumstances, with panic and the lack of a handrail, it could also become difficult for humans. Best regards.

The freely accessible Hochwart Castle ruins, also known as the "Black Castle," serve as a reminder of the dramatic end of the once mighty fortress of the Counts of Celje, whose line died out in 1456. Destroyed in a succession dispute, the castle was never rebuilt; today, parts of the main tower and walls of the 12th-century chapel still stand in the forest. However, the ruins are unsecured and at risk of collapse, situated partly on steep slopes, and the last 600 meters are only accessible on foot.
